The aliens have infiltrated every pillar of society. Vincent's shouts land on deaf ears. On January 10, 2022, The Late Night Fright honors this landmark television series from producer Quinn Martin (THE FUGITIVE, BARNABY JONES) and creator Larry Cohen (IT'S ALIVE, Q: THE WINGED SERPENT, ORIGINAL GANGSTAS).

Welcome to the Late Night Fright, broadcasting from WKMF Cozy Corner Public Radio! Pour yourself a cup of coffee, put your feet up and get ready to howl at the moon as your horror hosts Dan and Faith take a look back at classic horror and science-fiction films.
Tonight's film, THE INNOCENTS, was released on November 24th, 1961 and stars the legendary Deborah Kerr (FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, THE KING AND I) as an English governess dispatched to Bly Manor to take care of orphans Miles (Martin Stephens, VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED) and Flora (Pamela Franklin, THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE, THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE). The governess comes to believe that the children are possessed by the spirits of two of their former caretakers. Are the ghosts real...or are the supernatural events the products of an overactive, undersexed Victorian era imagination?
Directed by Jack Clayton (SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES) and beautifully filmed by Freddie Francis (cinematographer for GLORY, director of films for both Hammer and Amicus), THE INNOCENTS, based on THE TURN OF THE SCREW by Henry James, was adapted to the screen by Truman Capote (BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, IN COLD BLOOD) and was voted one of the 25 greatest horror films of all time by THE GUARDIAN.
Join Dan and Faith as they dive into the ambiguity of the film, discuss the recent news that Nicolas Cage (FACE/OFF, MOONSTRUCK) will be portraying Dracula in the upcoming Universal Studios film RENFIELD, and bring Creepy Classics month to a close. Produced by the legendary Howard Hawks (BRINGING UP BABY, RIO BRAVO) and based on the novella WHO GOES THERE by John W. Campbell, THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD stars James Arness (GUNSMOKE) as a vampire super carrot from outer space hell bent on sucking the blood of the human race! This film has been called the greatest science fiction film of the 1950s and is a personal favorite of John Carpenter, who directed his own telling of the tale in 1982.

From Universal Studios, the original house of horror, comes 1939's SON OF FRANKENSTEIN starring Basil Rathbone (THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES), Boris Karloff (FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN) and Bela Lugosi (DRACULA, THE BLACK CAT). Rowland V. Lee takes over the director's chair from James Whale (FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE INVISIBLE MAN) for this installment that finds Wolf von Frankenstein (Rathbone), the son of Dr. Henry Frankenstein (portrayed by Colin Clive in the first two installments), returning to the village of Frankenstein to claim his inheritance. There he meets the shepherd Ygor (Lugosi) and comes to face to face with his father's creation, played for the final time on screen by the one and only Boris Karloff.

Bill Murray (LOST IN TRANSLATION, STRIPES), Dan Aykroyd (THE BLUES BROTHERS, CONEHEADS), Sigourney Weaver (ALIEN, ALIENS), Harold Ramis (STRIPES, GROUNDHOG DAY), Rick Moranis (STEANGE BREW, HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS), Ernie Hudson (THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, THE CROW), and Annie Potts (DESIGNING WOMEN, PRETTY IN PINK) return in director Ivan Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS II. This time they're facing a river of slime charged by negative emotions and the spirit of a Carpathian magician housed in a painting in the Manhattan Museum of Art. Released in the summer of 1989, GHOSTBUSTERS II faced critical backlash at the time of its release but has since enjoyed a positive reevaluation.
