On September 26th, 1981, the world was introduced to Elvira, the horror hostess of Movie Macabre. The Mistress Of The Dark was brought to life by the multi-talented Cassandra Petersen, and soon the buxom, beehive hair-do wearing, Goth valley girl would become an international sensation, known as much for her wits as her…dark clothing.
Released in 1988, the feature length comedy Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark, written by Petersen and directed by James Signorelli (Saturday Night Live), was not a box office hit but has garnered quite the cult following in recent years.
