This week's contestants are 1998's Brian DePalma directed thriller SNAKE EYES and 2007's NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS. Two films will enter the dojo, but only one will leave victorious! It's Wednesday and that means it is time for horror movies and tonight we have one of the absolute classics in the genre, Universal's 1931 monster movie classic DRACULA starring the one and only Bela Lugosi as the world's most famous vampire and Edward Van Sloan as his arch nemesis Van Helsing. Along with Dan and Faith's take on the first supernatural film of the talking era of film, there's a new piece of music called "Dracula" from Weird Guy and a fun little segment at the end of the episode that needs to be heard to be believed! Vampire's Kiss (1988), Face/Off (1997), Mandy (2018) and Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) have moved on to round two. This week pits the Coen Brothers' RAISING ARIZONA from 1987 against 2012's GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE. The categories include overall film, hair, voice, face, and the Cage factor, that undefinable thing that makes the Cage the Cage. It's just another Cage Match Monday! THE LATE NIGHT FRIGHT continues its celebration of the filmography of Nicolas Kim Coppola, aka Nicolas Cage, aka, Nic Cage, aka THE CAGE, in an attempt to determine (using a highly scientific method) which performance is the CAGIEST.
We have two worthy opponents in the cage this week: the classic 1997 action film CON AIR starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and John Malkovich, and the sweet 1986 comedy PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED starring Kathleen Turner and Nicolas Cage. Two movies. Two completely different performance. Only one will be voted the CAGIEST.
CON AIR has the long hair and the Alabama accent. It also has a lot of explosions. PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED has the pompadour and the Pokey nasal fry. Who will emerge victorious? Tune in to find out!
