Monday Nov 04, 2019
On January 3rd, 1995, just outside of Erath, Louisiana, Rustin Cohle and Martin Hart, begin investigating the murder of prostitute Dora Lange. Lange’s body is found nude and posed in prayer, with deer antlers atop her head and a spiral symbol drawn on her back. Twig latticeworks surround her body.
This is how HBO’s award winning series TRUE DETECTIVE, from creator Nic Pizzolato begins. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson star as Cohle and Hart, the two Louisiana homicide detectives that go on a seventeen year journey down a rabbit hole that leads to a wide spread, multi generational conspiracy that involves the elites in positions of power from the state legislature to the local church.
“The Locked Room”, written by Pizzolato and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, premiered on January 26th, 2014. Join Dan and Faith of The Late Night Fright as they journey back to the beginning of this landmark show to examine the clues and dig deeper into the themes, symbolism, and characters of this engrossing nonlinear narrative.

Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954)
Wednesday Oct 30, 2019
Wednesday Oct 30, 2019
October is almost over and so is our look back at the classic Universal monsters. The month comes to a close with one of the greatest creature features of all time, 1954’s Creature From The Black Lagoon, the movie that introduced the world to the Gill-Man!
The Jack Arnold directed classic features a wonderful ensemble cast, an iconic creature design courtesy of Millicent Patrick, and some of the most beautiful underwater sequences ever put on film. Its influence can be felt on such modern classics as 1981’s The Thing and 1987’s Predator.
News updates from in and around Cozy Corner include breast cancer awareness at Cozy Corner Middle School, Burt Biederman’s landmark legal case against Christmas music, and a Gill-Man creature who likes to drink Old Milwaukee Beer.
Commercials include The Straight Dope with Harrison Ford (the Big HF), Bustin’ Balls with Burt Biederman (one of Cozy Corner’s oldest citizens), Bagz and Boardz starring Scott Rice and Lothar (wielder of the Wand of Wussification), The Power of Woman starring Lorena Luftluckett (aka “The Hammer”), a special invitation to a screening of Smokey and The Bandit courtesy of the Coyote, and an update from Lazer Lanez.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee, put your feet up and get ready to howl at the moon. It’s time for the Late Night Fright!

Tuesday Oct 29, 2019
In 1982, filmmaker George A. Romero (Night Of The Living Dead) and author Stephen King (IT, Carrie, The Shining), the masters of terror and the macabre, gave us Creepshow, a horror anthology film inspired by the classic EC Comics of the 1950s and it was the most fun we ever had being scared. In 2019, under the guiding hand of executive producer Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), Creepshow is back as a six week series streaming exclusively on Shudder.
This week’s episode includes the stories Night Of The Paw and Times Is Tough In Musky Holler.
Did our hard working crew at the Late Night Fright have fun being scared? Tune in to find out!

American Horror Story, the award winning horror anthology series from creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, is now in its ninth season on the FX Network. The current season, 1984, is an homage to the slasher pictures of the 80s, drawing heavy influence from the Friday The 13thfranchise, as well as the works of John Carpenter and Wes Craven. The ensemble cast features Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Cody Fern, Matthew Morrison, Gus Kenworthy, John Carrol Lynch, Angelica Ross and Zach Villa.
This season’s most recent episode was the one-hundredth in the series and is aptly titled Episode 100. This episode marks a sharp departure from the previous episodes and seems to be a set up for the season finale.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee, get ready to see some rad hair and join Dan and Faith as they continue their season long watch of AHS:1984.

Dolemite Is My Name (2019)
Saturday Oct 26, 2019
Saturday Oct 26, 2019
In 1975, comedian Rudy Ray Moore made the film DOLEMITE, a technically terrible movie that had massive appeal upon its release and continues to endear itself to audiences 44 years later. In 2019, Netflix partnered with Eddie Murphy to bring his story to the screen in the film DOLEMITE IS MY NAME directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan).
The Late Night Fright, while a horror movie podcast, is also a celebration of movies and DOLEMITE IS MY NAME is an absolute celebration of film. Join us for a very special edition of The Late Night Fright!

The Phantom Of The Opera (1925)
Wednesday Oct 23, 2019
Wednesday Oct 23, 2019
Get into the way, way back machine and travel through the mists of time with the Late Night Fright to 1925 for a look back at Universal’s classic adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s novel The Phantom Of The Opera. The film is a showcase for the Man Of A Thousand Faces, Lon Chaney, whose makeup design for Erik, the disfigured genius haunting the Paris Opera, is one of the greatest ever realized in a motion picture and is still absolutely terrifying all these years later.
The Late Night Fright has been spotlighting classic Universal monster movies throughout the month of October. The Phantom may be the most vile, despicable creature we’ve talked about on the show. He is a manipulative and possessive murderer, a far cry from the often popular view of him as a tragic, romantic anti-hero. Be absolutely careful of the music of the night and watch out for the falling chandelier!
News from in and around Cozy Corner includes the tale of Boppo the Clown’s adventure in the shark tank at the Cozy Corner Aquarium, a look at the box office juggernaut FART! The Musical now playing at the Cozy Corner Community Playhouse, Greg Huffleplank’s lawsuit against the Cozy Corner Travel Agency for denying him a ticket to Wakanda, and another impassioned plea to Robert Englund to come on the show.
Commercial bumpers include a new spot for THE STRAIGHT DOPE with Harrison Ford; TREKKIEZ with Scott Rice, host of Lazer Beamz (pew pew); BLEU, the little blue bedroom enhancement pill from Welsh Jennings featuring a pitch from Bobby D’Amato, and Sir Michael Caine for Welsh Jennings.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee, put your feet up and get ready to howl at the moon! It’s time for THE LATE NIGHT FRIGHT!
